KENSINGTON, MD – January, 29th, 2010 – Equivio, a provider of software for managing data redundancy, today announced it is ready to put its newest software innovation, Equivio>Relevance, to the ultimate legal services test: try Relevance on a case of up to one million documents and see if it doesn’t deliver Early Case Assessment (ECA) results that exceed expectations—all for FREE. Equivio>Relevance zooms in on the most relevant documents in the case, giving decision-makers the data they need to make strategic case strategy decisions, such as the settle or defend decision, early in the litigation cycle in an informed manner.
Called the Equivio>Relevance Challenge, Equivio’s offer is available to a limited number of participants on a first-come, first-served basis. To take part in the Equivio>Relevance Challenge, go to the signup page at www.equivio.com/challenge.
“Equivio>Relevance puts the ‘assessment’ back into Early Case Assessment,” said Amir Milo, CEO at Equivio. “We feel so strongly about the strengths of Equivio>Relevance, that we’re encouraging current and potential customers to subject it to one of their most challenging cases at no cost. We believe it will perform far beyond their expectations.”
Unlike software alternatives that employ keyword matching or other conventional techniques, Equivio>Relevance leverages a legal team’s best resource—a skilled attorney with knowledge of the case in question—as the catalyst for significantly improved ECA. Most ECA tools simply classify documents as either “in” or “out”, based on the search words contained in the file. This renders the filtering process only as good as the keywords employed; what’s more, the absence of a graduated scale means that reviewing attorneys cannot focus on the most relevant documents first.
Equivio>Relevance, by contrast, puts the knowledge, experience and wisdom of the case’s “expert” at the center of the process. Using Equivio>Relevance, a senior attorney spends just a couple of days reviewing sets of document samples, ranking the documents as relevant or not. Through an iterative, self-correcting process, Equivio>Relevance learns how to score documents for relevance. Once a threshold of accuracy is achieved, Equivio>Relevance is then able process the entire universe of documents, calculating a graduated relevance score for each document.
By enabling legal teams to focus on the most relevant information first, Equivio>Relevance speeds the ability of counsel to make well-founded decisions on case strategy. It ultimately accelerates the entire ECA process and potentially saves hundreds of thousands of dollars on document review.
