Traditional de-duplication processes focus on exact duplicates and do not highlight near-duplicates, such as two versions of the same electronic spreadsheet that may vary by as little as a few characters. The innovative Equivio>NearDuplicates and Equivio>EmailThreads software, which Relativity powered by Fios leverages, allows legal teams to focus on reviewing only the most relevant, unique information in a legal matter.

Fios’ advanced processing capabilities are made visually apparent in Relativity. Fios processing ensures that items maintain their contextual relationships with other items, whether they are email chains, documents within email chains or container files within container files. These relationships are intuitively displayed in Relativity for rapid categorization. Duplicates, near-duplicates and email threads are also shown contextually with other items, allowing reviewers to see related groups.
Equivio identifies a pivot document, which is the most inclusive, representative document within a set. With Relativity powered by Fios, reviewers can quickly jump from pivot to pivot while simultaneously bulk-tagging items in the set. Because items are signatured based on file header information, rather than document extension, they are displayed with appropriate icons, eliminating confusion for the reviewer.
