Computer Forensics Inc.™ Announces Agreement with Equivio to Provide Software for Identifying “Near-Duplicate” Files to U.S. Legal Market
Seattle, January 28, 2005 - Computer Forensics Inc. (CFI), one of the nation’s leading providers of computer discovery services, today announced they have entered into a strategic alliance with Equivio, an Israel-based software developer, in which CFI will become the first company to offer Equivio’s breakthrough “near-duping” software to the U.S. legal marketplace.
Equivio has developed software to identify "near-duplicate" files - primarily email messages and electronic documents - from the huge volume of files that are produced during electronic discovery. By efficiently detecting and grouping near-duplicate files with Equivio's patent-pending technology, CFI can reduce a client's electronic document processing costs by as much as 40 percent.
"Studies show that roughly 70 percent of documents in enterprise environments are duplicates or near-duplicates," said Joan Feldman, founder and president of Seattle-based Computer Forensics Inc. "While existing technology allows litigation support professionals to identify exact copies, Equivio is among the first to fill the need for finding near-duplicate files, such as those that result from the common practice of adding a superfluous 'thank you' comment to an original email and passing it along."
